Professional experience

Specialised in oncology in the USA (1969-1973), the first year as a pathology intern at Metropolitan Hospital and New York Medical College, New York and for the three subsequent years as a resident fellow at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, New York.

Head of Medical Oncology at Asturias General Hospital between 1973 and 1980, creating the first facility for this speciality in Spain, and actively collaborating with different groups of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).

Membership in scientific societies

Member of European and American cancer research societies (AACR, ASCO, EORTC).
