Şükrü Hatun M.D.

Born in 1959 in Domaniç, Prof. Şükrü Hatun graduated from Hacettepe School of Medicine in 1983. After which, he completed his compulsory service, as a general practitioner at Adıyaman. He did his specialization in Pediatrics at Dr. Sami Ulus Children’s Hospital and Pediatric endocrinology specialization at Hacettepe School of Medicine. He received his Associate Professor and Full Professor degrees in 1994 and 1999, accordingly. While he was working at Kocaeli University School of Medicine Pediatrics Departmen in 1995-2016, served as the head of department for 1 year and as the dean of medicine from 2012 to 2015. His main attempt during his career has been improving health, social rights and education for Children diagnose with diabetes. Since 1996, he has been the head of Diabetic Children’s summer camp organizing team. He wrote and translated several books for developing knowledge about the disease for diabetic children and their families. Also, he led a program named ‘diabetes at school’ with the goal of educating teachers and students on diabetes.
