Barış Sönmez, M.D.

Dr. Barış Sönmez after graduating from Hacettepe University Medical Faculty in 1999, completed his Ophthalmology residency in 2003 at the same university. He completed his compulsory military service at Malatya Military Hospital as an ophthamologist between years 2004 and 2005. He underwent through a fellowship program in cornea and refractive laser surgery in 2005-2006 at California University in Los Angeles. He directed Cornea – Laser eye surgery at OMÜ Medical Faculty in 2006-2010. He got his Ophthalmology Associate Professor Degree in 2009 and in 2018 Ophthalmology Professor Degree at BAU Medical Faculty.  Between years 2010 and 2019, Dr. Barış Sönmez directed Eye Center of Memorial Hospital. Since 2019, he is warking at American Hospital as a Professor of Ophralmology. Cornea diseases and cornea transplantation, pterygium surgery and glaucoma, keratoconus treatment, , NoTouch excimer laser surgeries LASIK and  SMILE, cataract and lens implantation surgeries present his main clinical interests.
