Mert Erkan M.D.

Born in 1970, in Istanbul, Prof. Mert Erkan graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1995. He completed his General Surgery residency in 2001 at the same university and served there as a consultant surgeon till 2003. Between 2003 and 2007, he began postdoctoral studies at the European Pancreas Center in Molecular Biology and earned a second doctoral degree with honors from the Heidelberg University, Germany. He worked at Surgery Department of Munich Technical University in 2007. Alongside completing his Digestive Surgery sub-branch specialization in 2010, he became a consultant surgeon. He got his Associate Professor degree in 2011, and became the head Pancreatic Surgery Department at Munich Technical University 2013. He has been working at Koç School of Medicine since 2014.
