Zeynel Mungan, M.D.

Born in Diyarbakir, in 1952, Prof. Dr. Zeynel Mungan received his medical degree in 1977, and completed his residency studies in Internal Medicine in1981. In 1988, he underwent through the Fellowship program in Gastroenterology at Istanbul University Medical Faculty. He received his Associate Professor and Professor degrees in 1988 and 1995, accordingly, at the same institution. In 1990-1992 he worked at Tulane University, in New Orleans, USA, as a Reaserch Associate Professor through the award of Kemal Akdamar GI Research Fellowship. In 1999-2007 Dr. Zeynel Mungan was the President of Turkish Gastroenterology Association Istanbul Branch. Between years 2005-2010 he headed Gastroenterohepatology Department of Istanbul University Medical Faculty. He authored more than 200 papers published in Gastroenterology textbooks or International and Turkish scientific journals, mostly about inflammatory bowel disorders, gastrointestinal motility, acid-peptic diseases, GI peptides, and endoscopy. Dr. Zeynel Mungan is a Fellow of European Gastroenterology Boasr and American College of Gastroenterology. He has been working at Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of VKV American Hospital since 1994.
